My name is Sean Lewis and I teach all levels of Spanish at YHS as well as Social Studies, Digital Media, and Yearbook/Journalism at YJH and I would like to introduce myself and tell you a few things about myself, personally and professionally.
I have been teaching at Yale Public Schools since the fall of 1998. I received my BA at Alma College with a major in Spanish and most recently my Master’s in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. I spent a semester abroad studying at a small school in Madrid, Spain. This experience taught me so much about the language and more importantly about another culture, which in return I will pass on to your child. I hope that your child will enjoy the language but also all of the cultural values I have learned.
Teaching, to me, is not just a career, but a passion. My goal, my mission as a teacher is to promote high self-esteem among each of my students and for them to develop a positive image of themselves by incorporating an attitude that they can reach all of their goals while gaining the proper skills to use a foreign language in a conversational setting and being lifelong learners of this wonderful language.
I will teach your child the importance of a new language and how cultural diversity is important in our society. Your child deserves nothing but the utmost respect and I will give to him or her, but in order to teach your child to the best of my ability I expect the same respect from your child.
I look forward to working with your child in class. I know I can count on your support and involvement. If you have any questions you can contact me via the contacts page.
From the pictures below you can tell I love to travel and see new worlds and cultures
